Is your story full of twists and turns? I can help.
Here’s an example of a narrative that posed multiple challenges:
How could we break through the chaos and noise of the news cycle and engage the audience?
What new reporting do we have that would advance the narrative?
Why would anyone care?
The answer: Compelling characters.
One of my team’s junior producers had sent in notes about a group of suburban moms who tuned in Steve Bannon’s daily radio show while navigating carpool lines. His message sparked their interest in politics — but also fueled their belief in election falsehoods.
I pulled those notes out of the piles of reporting and outlined an engaging narrative that not only organized the investigation into a compelling story, but also served as a vessel for original animations, photos and other visual elements.
